COMPONENT 3: Curricula and Training

Goal: Develop relevant evidence-based training opportunities to benefit students and supply chain management practitioners in Ghana and beyond.

Quality supply chain management education is critical to creating strong supply chains. Education opportunities are limited across Africa. There are few training opportunities for in-field/in-service training in Ghana, including government workers who need to meet Ghana’s Public Procurement Authority (PPA) certification and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements. Enrollments of women and disadvantaged students are low and education is often inaccessible to disadvantaged SCM practitioners.

Drawing upon ASU’s expertise in supply chain management and innovative locally relevant research, CARISCA will develop sustainable mechanisms to reach diverse learners through conventional academic programs, CPD, and digital/mobile-enabled training.

Activities in Component 3 include:

  • Traditional degree programs (Activity 3.1)
  • Traditional online courses (Activity 3.2)
  • Interactive voice recognition (IVR)  (Activity 3.2)
  • Text-based training using short message codes (SMS) (Activity 3.2)
  • Gaming/simulation apps (Activity 3.3)
  • Executive education programs and short courses (Activity 3.4)
  • Training toolkits for supply chain practitioners (Future activity planned in Component 4)
