Thank you for joining the conversation at CARISCA’s first Supply Chain Research Summit. One of CARISCA’s goals is to exchange and share knowledge about supply chain research in Africa. The conference is for academics, practitioners, policymakers and students. The virtual conference consisted of four keynote presentations, six sessions, two panel discussions, and a dissertation award session for the best supply chain dissertation.
Keynote 1: Managing the Supply Chain in a Turbulent and Uncertain World
Prof. Martin Christopher
Emeritus Professor, Cranfield University, U.K.
Martin Christopher has been at the forefront of innovative thinking in logistics and supply chain management for almost fifty years. At Cranfield School of Management, he helped build the Centre for Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Procurement, which is now a leading center of excellence in logistics and supply chain management.
Keynote 2: Digitization and Medical Supply Chains in Africa
Mr. Daniel Sarfo Marfo
Senior Vice President, Zipline International, Ghana
Daniel Marfo is a pharmacist by training with over 10 years of experience in the healthcare and technology industries. He presently leads Zipline’s efforts to rapidly deliver medical and blood products to patients all over Africa as a Senior Vice President. Daniel has worked extensively in management positions for big pharmaceutical companies, including Johnson & Johnson and Sandoz.
Keynote 3: Sustainability Issues in Supply Chains in Africa
Professor Kenneth Amaeshi
University of Edinburgh, Scotland

Kenneth Amaeshi is a leading scholar on sustainable business and finance in the Global South. He is the Chair in Business and Sustainable Development and Director of Scaling Business in Africa at the University of Edinburgh. He also holds a Chair in Sustainable Finance and Governance at the School of Transnational Governance, European University Institute, Florence, Italy, and a visiting Professorship at Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa, London School of Economics and Political Science.
Keynote 4: Health Product Supply Chains – Opportunities for Teaching, Research and Service Impact

Prashant Yadav is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development, Affiliate Professor at INSEAD, and Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. He is a globally recognized healthcare supply chain scholar. He has also worked in several high-profile roles, such as the Vice President of Healthcare at the William Davidson Institute, and serves on several company boards.
